Tri-Parish

Tri-Parish Covenant

This covenant was created in 2013 to enrich our parishes and to serve as a vibrant sign of Catholic presence in our communities and beyond.

In an ad hoc capacity, the Trustees and Pastoral Council Chairs of St. Charles Borromeo, Immaculate Conception (St. Mary), and St. Joseph Parishes will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to carry out the covenant.  With the endorsement of the pastors and affirmation of the Pastoral Councils, we will support this covenant and continually explore ways to work together and to implement Archdiocesan vision.

Please know that if you should decide to attend another of our Tri-Parish communities for Mass, you are welcome to drop your membership envelope into the collection basket. These envelopes, wherever they are collected, are sent to the appropriate parish to which they belong.

St. Charles was incorporated on August 23, 1908.  Then, on September 20, 1908, Father Dreis officially became the first pastor of St. Charles. By the year 1908 Burlington's large Catholic family was outgrowing its sixty-seven year old home, St. Mary's congregation.   The Most Reverend Sebastian G. Messmer, began to consider founding a second parish in Burlington to provide for the increasing spiritual needs of the Catholic population. The Reverend Philipp Dreis had already been selected as the future pastor for the new parish and he came to Burlington from Caledonia in March of 1908.  Between March and September of that year a parish formation committee was established, parish lines were designated. The congregation was placed under the patronage of St. Charles Borromeo.

Immaculate Conception (St Mary) Parish is a Roman Catholic parish located in Burlington, Wisconsin and is part of the of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Our faith, commitment, history, and continued education are all very important parts of this parish.  The earliest record of mass being said in this community was in 1838.  By 1845 the first Catholic church, St Sebastian, was built.  The community quickly outgrew this first church and it was replaced by a cobblestone church in 1859.  In 1891, the third (and current) church was built, though it was almost completely lost in a fire in 1977.  The church was restored to much of its original beauty and was rededicated in 1979.

St. Joseph's is a Catholic Parish rooted in rural Lyons, Wisconsin. Our members seek Christ's peace by following His teachings and by sharing together in a lifelong journey of spiritual growth. In response to the gospel's call for justice and compassion, we reach out and share our resources with all those in need. We believe that each person is blessed and gifted by the Holy Spirit. We encourage everyone to respond to their baptismal call by sharing their time, talents, and treasures.
