September Welcome back, everybody.
Greetings from the St. Charles Sixth Grade.
Despite hot and muggy weather, it was a great summer.
I had the chance to travel around our state a bit, which
was fun.
I am, however, ready to return to the classroom.
It was great to meet some new families to our junior
high at Open House and see some familiar faces as well.
I look forward to working with all of you this coming
school year.
In addition to all the wonderful things happening at our
school, this year we are celebrating our parish’s centennial.
I feel fortunate to be part of the rich heritage here at
St. Charles Parish.
We have some much of which to be proud! My focus in sixth grade is to stress the 3 R’s –
Respect, Responsibility, and Reverence.
I expect my students to respect one another and me.
In turn, I will show them the same respect.
Students will learn to be responsible not only for their
work, but also for their words and actions.
This includes accepting consequences, both good and bad,
for what they do.
Finally, I hope the students will learn to reverence the world
around them.
I hope to help them see the hand of God in our world, in each
other, and in themselves.
By working together – parents, teachers, and students -
we can ensure a positive and productive school year. Just a few reminders as we begin a new school year: First, I want to give you all a quick reminder about
dress code.
We celebrate Mass as a school community every Wednesday.
Students are not allowed to wear jeans to Mass.
We also ask that students wear a collared shirt to Mass.
Remember that St. Charles junior high students must wear
a gym uniform.
Specifics can be found in the school handbook.
Second,
students in the junior high are required to
perform 5 hours of service to St. Charles Parish/School.
There are many opportunities to complete this
requirement throughout the school year.
I will keep students updated on these opportunities as
they become available. When
students complete these service hours, please bring written verification to
school.
I know that in the past many students have completed this
requirement but failed to get proper documentation.
I have service hour sheets in my classroom.
Additional sheets can be found in our church vestibule.
Our Fall Festival is coming up soon.
This is a great opportunity to complete service hours
and have fun serving our parish.
Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions,
concerns, or comments.
I am available from 7:30 A.M. – 8:15 A.M. each morning.
I am also available after school from 3:05
P.M. – 3:30 P.M., each night except Wednesdays.
You can send me
a WebNote via Standard Score or you can e-mail me at the school.
My address is
ppappa@mystcharles.org. I look forward to working with you all this year. Sincerely, Mr. Pappa
