January Newsletter

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Before we break for the Christmas holiday we would like to just touch base with you on a few things.

DROP OFFS
Our front door (near the office) has a doorbell.  It has not always been working.  Please, if you drop off your child/children during the school day after the doors are locked, make sure they have gotten in before you drive off.  We do not want any child alone outside because we did not hear the doorbell.  Remember, all doors are locked after the 8:20 A.M. bell rings.

ATHLETICS

We will again be calling on Fridays to remind everyone about their assignments.  Please notify Sister Margaret if you got a substitute for your shift.  Many thanks to non-athlete parents for volunteering to assist us.  Please remember, if your high school student wishes to work in the concession stand with you to earn service hours, they may do so.  This is a wonderful way to earn service hours.  It is my understanding that the scorebook/clock is off limits.  We must have an adult for this.

ADVENT PROJECTS

Our Advent project is proving to be a wonderful success.  I am sure that we will reach our goal of $500.  I know the folks at Safety Town will be very happy to receive our donation.  Thank you so much for your generosity.

I was approached by Sandy Schmaling and her missionary friend, Greg Joslyn.  They will be going to Guatemala in January.  They have offered to give us a presentation about the missions in Guatemala and the life of the poor in that country.  Even in these tough economic times in our country, our life is so blessed compared to the poor in other countries.  I know that the presentation will be very enlightening for all of us.

The missionaries have asked us to sponsor them with small personal hygiene items that they will carry with them and give to the Guatemalan people.  We have decided to divide the needed items by classes. If you are able to send in one of these items, thank you.

If you are tapped and unable to do so we certainly understand and we are grateful for all that you do.  Mr. Joslyn will be speaking on Thursday, December 18th at 2:00 P.M.  Please feel free to join us for this presentation.  All items will be presented to him at that time.

HIGH INTEREST DAY – January 30, 2009

We have had a wonderful response to this day.  It is my understanding that we have filled every space in this building with a presentation.  Excitement is mounting.  Ms. Benz and Mrs. Halverson have done a fantastic job of organizing this day.  There is a lot still to be done.  After the holidays, students will be given an opportunity to identify the workshops that interest them, and the challenging task of scheduling begins.

Have a Fantastic Christmas & Happy New Year

God Bless You All

 Love,

Sister Margaret
